The Small Tweak To My Thinking That Leads To Me Exercise More
This 👇 looks exactly like me, btw

Sometimes all it takes is a little adjustment to your thinking in order to make beneficial, healthier choices.
I’ve been exercising since my early 20s. I had a roommate at University who was very athletic and one day offered to take me to the Athletic Centre on campus and “show me the ropes”. As someone who had never visited a gym before, I greatly appreciated this. I would have never done it on my own.
Once I graduated though, gym fees kept me away, and I become someone who worked out at home.
That’s my personal preference. If you’re a gym patron, you do you!
When I was single and living on my own, I used to exercise at the end of the day, after work.
I’m not single anymore and evening workouts just don’t suit.
So, several years ago, I switched to morning workouts, before work.
But in the cold, dark of winter….

I found it hard to motivate myself to work out.
So, upon waking up, I’d decide:
Nah, not today. Maybe tomorrow.
The problem was, tomorrow was always a day away.
Next thing I knew, it was spring and I hadn’t picked up a dumbbell or planked my way to a 6 pack, in months.
Kidding.
I’ve never had a 6 pack.
I was still waking up at the same time. I still had the same amount of time, but my decision-making upon waking was keeping me unfit, and I ain’t getting any younger…
Until one day, it hit me…
I don’t have to make this decision right this red, hot minute, or rather, right this blue, cold minute.
I can get up, turn on the lights and heating, have a cup of coffee, meditate…
…and then decide!
I had been making the mistake of deciding against something before I was ready to make a decision.
I was tired, it was dark, it was cold…
But once I woke up, warmed up and perked up, the world looked different.

So now, I don’t make that decision when I wake up.
I wait.
I welcome the day, pour myself a coffee, meditate.
I let myself wake up first!
And then I decide.
And you know what? That simple tweak leads me to choosing to exercise more, regardless of the season.
And it just took a simple tweak.
A small decision to change the way I thought.
That’s the thing about big leaps.
They always start with small steps.
What’s something you could tweak your way of thinking about?
